3 Key trends for SS2014

Sheer is here this season! Spring/Summer 2014 had a major focus on Sheer this year. The runway was alight with fluttery fabrics adding a feminine touch to some major collections. Balenciaga, Burberry, Christopher Kane, Dolce & Gabbana, Fendi and Mulberry all had sheer in their collections this year suggesting its going to be a major high street trend. The great thing about it is its perfect for spring layering. Its no wonder so many designers featured this staple in their collections for SS14. Expect to see sheer popping up in stores like Topshop and Zara very soon. Sheerly delightful.

Why florals may be expected they have a strong hold on the SS14 runways this year bought have been reinvented by mixing them all together and exploring digital floral prints. Techno tropical and bold blossoms splashed up as well which we saw in collaboration with sheer fabrics. Theres something romantic and feminine that florals speak to, wether its a sense of nostalgia for by gone eras or not Miu Miu, Mulberry, Dries Von Noten, Kenzo and more had a take on the simple classic. This trend appears often but its the reinvention with digital prints and vibrant colors that make it fresh.

black and white:

Black and White is a staple. Its strong, its powerful and its oh so chic. This SS14 has seen a load of designers experimenting with monochromatic designs. Missoni, Fendi, Jill sanders and Givenchy have all taken it in turn to showcase black and white for this season. The stark contrast between the two creates interesting depth and moodiness when worn and can be taken from day to evening easily with just the addition or subtraction of some accessories. This look is already popular in stores like Zara and is a great way to get a high fashion look on a budget.
