WHAT IS RESOLUTION:

 

Resolution relates to the detail an image displays. It refers to the amount of pixels that

are in an image.

 

WHAT RESOLUTION ARE APPROPRIATE FOR FOR PRINT AND FOR WEB?

 

300+ pixels to print (minimum)
72+ pixels for a computer screen

 

HOW DOES RESOLUTION AFFECT OUR ABILITY TO SCALE OR EDIT AN IMAGE?

 

The higher the resolution the better quality scaling you can achieve as well as editing.

 

WHAT FILE FORMATS ARE MOST APPROPRIATE FOR PRINTING? WHY?

 

Tiff is the best file format to save as it will result in no loss of image quality

 

 

WHAT FILE FORMATS ARE MOST APPROPRIATE FOR THE WEB? WHY? 

 

JPEG is best for online as it keeps the file size small and is also recognized by all web browsers.

WHAT FILE FORMATS ARE MOST APPROPRIATE FOR EDITING IN PHOTOSHOP IN THE FUTURE? WHY? 

 

PSD files are your best choice as they are photoshop files and will work with all image editing you wish to do in future and there is no loss in image quality depending on how often you open or close the file.

 

 

EXPLAIN CMYK AND RGB, WHAT ARE THEY USED FOR AND WHY?

 

These represent colors used for computer screens as well as printing.

Cyan-Magenta-Yellow-Black is used in regards to printing

Red-Green-Blue is used for computer screens

 

EXPLAIN DUO TONE AND GREY SCALE. WHAT MIGHT THESE COLORS MODES BE APPROPRIATE FOR? 

 

Duo tone is a reproduction of an image using a contrasting color as a half tone.

Grey scale is an image who’s pixels who have a value of a single sample.

 

WHICH TOOLS DID YOU LIKE THE BEST AND WHICH ONES DID YOU FIND HARD TO USE? 

 

I personally prefer using curves to brighten and darken photos as well as using the spot

healing tool for imperfections. I find that the selection tools can be difficult if you don’t

take your time to work with them to achieve the best results.
